The track is a follow-up to her Big Dada debut, "Miss Yo," and features Dutch DJ, producer, and artist Jarreau Vandal who has previously worked with Ashnikko, JGrrey, Kojey Radical, Col3trane and more.
Danitsa wrote "Wrong Things" as a way to reclaim her artistic identity, allowing an alter ego to voice her true feelings after months of grappling with industry pressure regarding streams and expectations. She opens up about the emotional journey and intense self-doubt that inspired her new song, saying “For months, I questioned my musical future. Every meeting sent me back the same thing: not enough streams, not enough of this, not enough of that. ‘Why don't you do this? Why don't you do that?’ From hearing so much about what I wasn't, I drifted away from what I was. I started doubting, wanting to change to fit the mold. So I wrote. And in ‘Wrong Things’, my alter ego says out loud what I no longer dared to think. This song is me getting back up.
Speaking on her collaboration with Jarreau Vandal, Danitsa says, “I had been wanting to work with Jarreau Vandal for a long time. I first met him almost 10 years ago at the Antigel Festival in Switzerland. We talked briefly and when he got on stage I was in total admiration. He was moving from dub to Kaytranada-type sounds. There was such a real diversity and musical vision. The song happened a few years later when I was visiting Amsterdam. He played me the track with only the chorus on it and it literally gave me goosebumps. At that time I was in a phase where I was really worrying about the wrong things, spiralling on every choice I had to make and questioning every decision, so it came at the perfect moment.” Jarreau Vandal adds, “I initially made this as a demo for my own project, but when we did the session with Danitsa it sounded so dope, it was meant to be for her project. Really happy this one finally gets to see the daylight!”
